The Bet at the Bank: A Million-Dollar Wager

One day, an elderly woman with a bag full of money visited one of the branches of the largest Canadian banks and opened an account with a balance of one million dollars. She then told the branch manager that she wished to meet the CEO of the bank for personal reasons. Naturally, her request was accepted due to the large amount of money she had deposited. A meeting with the CEO was arranged for the woman.

On the appointed day, the old woman went to the bank's headquarters and was directed to the CEO's office. The CEO warmly welcomed her, and soon they engaged in a conversation on various topics. Eventually, the conversation turned to the old woman's bank account, and the CEO curiously asked what the story behind her vast amount of money was. Had she recently inherited it? The woman replied, "No, I saved this money by indulging in my favorite hobby, which is gambling."

The old woman continued, "Since gambling has become a habit for me, I would like to take this opportunity to bet that tomorrow you will be wearing red shorts!" Upon hearing this proposal, the CEO burst out laughing and eagerly asked, "How much money are we talking about?" The woman replied, "20,000 dollars. If you agree, tomorrow at 10 a.m. I will come to your office with my lawyer to make our bet official in his presence, and then we will see who wins." The CEO accepted the bet and instructed his secretary to clear his schedule for 10 a.m. the following day.

The next day, exactly at 10 a.m., the woman arrived at the CEO's office with a man who appeared to be her lawyer. The respectful old woman asked the CEO, if possible, to pull down his pants. The CEO, who was eager to see where this was all going to end, complied with the woman's request with a smile. Yes, the CEO's shorts were bright green!

Upon seeing the scene, the old woman's lawyer became angry and agitated. The CEO, who saw his distress, was surprised by the lawyer's reaction and asked the old woman what was wrong with her lawyer. She replied with a smile, "Oh, nothing is wrong with him. I bet him $100,000 that I would see you wearing green shorts today."
